Favorite picks from copycatchic traveling for the winter holidays with great finds from Walmart. #walmartpartner #walmartfashion

Who’s gearing up for some winter travel? It’s that time of year 🙂 Visiting family and friends is definitely on the agenda. I feel like traveling over the holidays is a whole other beast, wouldn’t you agree? I think it’s nice to dress it up a bit for the holidays. Although comfort is definitely a priority (as well as affordablility ofc). Now that we are out of hibernation-mode and out-and-about more, it’s nice to dress it up a bit, don’t you think?

Of course, Walmart to the rescue. I’m really loving their Free Assembly line – it’s filled with quality wardrobe staples at reasonable prices. They make it easy to outfit yourself from head-to-toe at a great price. I’ve found pretty much all I need at Walmart this winter season. I love when they make it easy on us like that!

All of these pieces tend to stick with a classic more traditional vibe, as opposed to trendy. I like to think they’ll last more than one seasons at least 😉 Happy travels!

  1. Cashmere gloves. Super soft, super warm.
  2. A classic watch. A solid choice that’ll help you make it to your gate on time.
  3. A pretty purse. This one is giving me Kelly vibes at a tiny fraction of the price.
  4. Satin pants. Love the vibe these are giving. Perfect for any holiday party.
  5. Silver bracelet. This would make a great gift as well!
  6. A nice coat. You could wear this coat on so many different occassions.
  7. A classic white button down. A wardrobe must-have.
  8. Sweater dress. This will keep you comfy and warm and looking good.
  9. Dressy flats. These have the perfect amount of sparkle.
  10. Barrel bag. I love this adorable bag!
  11. A Modern puffer. The silhouette of this jacket keeps you from looking out-dated, while keeping you warm.
  12. Stylish rain boots. For when the weather is a little too wet for those flats above.
  13. Versatile PJs. These definitely could be used on the daily.
  14. A weekender. A versatile bag that could be used for so many purposes.
  15. Loafers. A classic version perfect for most outfits.

  1. Watch. A great everyday watch.
  2. Lowkey cap. Dresses up or down.
  3. Cashmere beanie. I hate when beanies are scratchy. A cashmere version is just the ticket.
  4. A fun sweatshirt. This design give this sweatshirt a level up.
  5. A warm vest. good for all cold weather.
  6. Bomber. The faux suede updates this classic jacket.
  7. Boots. This sturdy pair is visually appealing
  8. Cargo Jacket. A dressier option than the last one and great for weathering the elements.
  9. A leather duffel. timeless.

Holiday Looks for the Family

This post is brought to you by Walmart.

This holiday season really kicked it into high gear as soon as Halloween was over. I swear each year the holidays start earlier and earlier. We’re a bit behind over here in the Broussard household. We still need to get family photos taken and Christmas cards ordered. I’ve been pouring over our closets thinking of what we can wear for pictures this year – seeing if inspiration hits.

Our family photos from 2021

I’ve also been browsing websites looking for fun gifts as well as outfits for the family this season. I like to map out what we wear ahead of time for family photos, Thanksgiving and Christmas just to make things a little easier on everyone.

One of my favorite places to find reasonably priced gifts and clothing is Walmart. They always have such a huge assortment of clothing, gifts, and items for the home. I always find what I need and never leave disappointed. I always prioritize natural materials when buying clothing for myself and my family and Walmart has a great selection at even better prices – and you know I can’t resist a good deal.

This year I also found myself drawn to nostalgic prints and traditional cuts & patterns. Who doesn’t enjoy a good fair isle or cable knit sweater? A few hot trends are fun too as long as it’s not too much 😉 But this year I think, we’ll go a little more traditional. Here are some of the looks that caught my eye this season at Walmart! Click on the item below to go to the product page.

Do you plan out your family outfits for the season too? Would love to know what themes or colors were your favorites this year. And just for fun, here are a couple of family photos from over the years – We try to go for a different look each time.

Last year we bought a washable rug for our family room and it was a total gamechanger. Since then, we’ve been replacing all of the rugs in our house with washable ones. The selection between now and then has multiplied! Before it was hard to find a washable rug that wasn’t just a cotton mat. The selection of washable rugs now is pretty amazing, they come in every style, size, and color.

I’ve been on the hunt for a washable runner for our hallway. It’s been slow going, but I was able to find a 16ft long runner at Walmart. It’s perfect for this hallway because it is a high traffic area with a door coming in from the back as well the garage, so lots of dirt coming in. I love that I can easily pull it up and throw it in the washer for a refresh when needed.

As you might have seen on my Instagram account. We’ve recently moved! We sold our home in Northern California and decided to relocate down to California’s Central Coast area. We spent the past summer at the beach in Morro Bay, Cayucos, Los Osos, and Avila Beach and realized that the slower, less crowded lifestyle was for us. We took the summer to get to know the area and found our new home in San Luis Obispo!

Here are a couple of tips I’ve learned over the years to help make your party a success.

  1. INVITES
I always use Evite or another online invite service because then people can rsvp and let everyone know what cookie they’ll be bringing, so no one brings the same cookies. Other guests can also see how many people are coming, so they know how many cookies to bake. I usually plan to have each guest take around 6 -12 cookies of each kind home with them.
  2. COOKIE CONTAINERS
Speaking of bringing cookies home. You can either have guests repurpose the container they brought to store the cookies they’ve collected. Or these adorable santa-themed to-go containers would be perfect.
  3. FAVORS
Totally not necessary, but guests always appreciate that little extra touch. This year, I gifted mini spatulas, cookie cutters and whisks with a festive ribbon and gift tag.
  4. PLATTERS
I always put out a bunch of empty platters so that guests can use them to display their cookies. And I also keep room available on the table for guests to use their own platters.
  5. COOKIE NAMES
I add a few blank cards to the table so that guests can write the name of their cookie, sometimes it’s just so hard to tell what is what!
  6. RECIPES
Another great tip is to have each guest bring enough copies of their cookie recipe on a standard recipe/note card. I put it on a separate table so that the guests can compile their own little mini-cookie cookbook at the end of the night. All you need to provide is a decorative front cover and either a stapler or a hole punch and string or brads.

This time around I had the kids help out and decorate the shortbread and gingerbread cookies. Gotta love the enthusiasm, right? World Market made it pretty easy on us by offering ready-made shortbread, along with frosting and sprinkles. I also picked up this gingerbread gnome kit. Because the more the merrier right? World Market literally had everything I needed for the party. I love it when you can everything done in one shopping trip!!

Hey friends, I just finished prepping for our 17th annual Friendsgiving this weekend. I can’t believe we’ve been doing it this long! It’s really evolved over the years into something all of our friends look forward to all year. And when we first starting having them, it was during college with friends and roommates. It’s been so amazing to see it expand and contract over the years with new friends, old friends, new spouses and significant others, children, pets…you name it!

I figured I’d share my top 10 tips I’ve learned along the way!

My Home | Kitchen Progress Phase 1 Complete!

Copy Cat Chic kitchen renovation phase 1 complete! We updated the flooring to white picket tile from Home Depot | Stay tuned for more updates | copycatchic luxe living for less budget home decor and design

Phase one is complete! If you remember the kitchen progress plan from my last post, you’ll see we had some major updates going on. The first major change in here? The flooring had to go! I found some amazing picket tile at Home Depot that looks updated, on-trend and yet classic at the same time. It also compliments the small hex tile flooring in the adjoining washroom. When Home Depot reached out to see if I was interested in partnering with them on updating my kitchen flooring, I may or may not have done a happy dance. They made it possible for my kitchen goals to begin, literally, from the ground up 😉

Here’s a glimpse of the kitchen now, want to see more? I’ve written a post with the full reveal over on the Home Depot blog today! So be sure to head on over and check it out. So far, everything is looking exactly how I’d envisioned it and I couldn’t be more excited! I would love to hear what you think! Did you vote for the picket tile or one of the others? I mean, really I don’t think there was a bad option, but I’m pretty ecstatic about my choice. Thanks for helping me make the right decision!
