As you might have seen on my Instagram account. We’ve recently moved! We sold our home in Northern California and decided to relocate down to California’s Central Coast area. We spent the past summer at the beach in Morro Bay, Cayucos, Los Osos, and Avila Beach and realized that the slower, less crowded lifestyle was for us. We took the summer to get to know the area and found our new home in San Luis Obispo!
We sold or gave away pretty much everything and packed what we had left into a POD and moved it down. So we’re starting with a blank slate at our new house. We don’t even have a sofa! I’ll be giving you all a more detailed home tour shortly, but wanted to give you a sneak peek at our dining room. It was the best place to start since we kept our dining table and a couple of chairs from the last house.
And to bring it around full circle, I worked with Walmart on the space, which was our first partnership at our last house too! They seemed like the perfect retailer to collaborate with – Walmart Home has such a huge variety of products available at prices that work for everyone. I was able to find the staples like new dining chairs, a chandelier, sconces, etc, as well as the perfect fall touches to cozy the room up a bit. Not only that but everything was delivered so quickly – which is such a challenge these days – so I was very impressed with Walmart’s free 2-day shipping with purchases over $35. And with Walmart’s great (and easy) return policy, I felt very comfortable ordering everything online – I know how hard it can be to buy something sight unseen.
The console is the same as we had at our last house. We sold that one, but I realized it would have worked perfectly in the dining room, so we bought it again! I also thought this dinnerware and silverware were the perfect way to decorate for the fall season.

And for reference, here are a couple of before pictures. As you can see we painted the accent wall and replaced those light fixtures.
BEFORE

I’m loving the direction the room is taking so far, although it’s definitely still a work in progress. We need some larger-scale artwork for the walls, as well as a larger dining table eventually. I think I’d like a glass-fronted cabinet to display some of my server-ware and I’m debating on getting a rug to warm it up a bit. Oh and let’s not forget some window treatments to help soften the space. Anyways, as you can see, it’s a great start! Can’t wait to bring you along for the rest of the journey!
