How to use the konmari method to declutter when moving to a new home | In partnership with NorthStar Moving Co | copycatchic luxe living for less budget home decor and design daily finds, home trends and room redos
This post is in partnership with NorthStar Moving Company.

Most of you have heard of the Konmari method and the every minimalist’s bible: The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Ever since reading the book a few years ago, we regularly “konmari” everything in the house. It’s such a simple and easy way to keep clutter to a minimum.

When we moved, I thought I would use the konmari method to help make the whole moving process easier, not only before moving but during the move as well!

My favorite holistic spring cleaning favorites for April | copycatchic luxe living for less | chic ways to clean your home the natural way

Starting a new monthly series! I’ll be picking a few favorites and sharing them with you. There won’t always be a theme, I think, but I thought it would be fun to share a couple of unique and natural ways I like to clean house over here. I’ve done a few cleaning posts before, but here are some products I’ve been using (or would like to try!) for spring cleaning this month.

1 | HIMALAYAN SALT LAMP
Like I mentioned in my Mother’s Day gift guide, I’ve bought salt lamps for almost every room in the house! So Well only sells fair trade Himalayan salt harvested ethically. A+
2 | ORGANIC BED LINEN SUBSCRIPTION
Coyuchi just announced their organic bed and bath linen subscriptions. Pretty great idea!
3 | THE LAUNDRESS LAUNDRY ASSORTMENT℅
I’m loving that The Laundress has separate detergents for my lights and darks! Anything to keep my blacks looking black! They work well and sit pretty 😉
4 | PHUR CLEANING WATER℅
pHur water’s pH balance has been changed to create a cleaner and a disinfectant. The only contents? Water and salt. Yep. That’s IT. I’m so on board!
5 | AWAIR℅
This gorgeous little piece of tech analyzes the air quality of your home and gives you an air quality score. It can also integrate with other smart tech in your home to improve the air conditions. For example, it can connect to your Nest and either turn on the heater or air condition if temperature levels get too extreme. So cool right? Plus it’s so chic looking! You can also use it like a clock.
6 | CHIKUNO CUBE
I might have mentioned this little guy before, but I really do love it. It’s a charcoal natural air purifier! We have one in our refrigerator and in the kids room.
I was not paid to write this post but it does contain affiliates and gifted items noted with a “℅”. Thank you for supporting Copy Cat Chic!

Decluttering and organizing the mudroom and kitchen prep area with cabinets from @orchardsupply minimalist home organization luxe living for less

If you haven’t noticed yet, I’ve been on a home decorating kick lately. It’s funny, but it always seems to take about a year of living in a house for me to really get inspired on how to furnish and decorate the space. I really like to get to know a house and how we live in it before I know what the home needs, in terms of furniture, changes or decor. Today I’m going to show you our mudroom. It’s a small room right off the entryway and open to the kitchen. When we first moved in, I had grand plans of making it a breakfast nook, but that changed pretty fast. It’s now a major workhorse in our home. One side serves as an extension to our kitchen and the other serves as our mudroom.

Minimalist Kitchen Clean Up Tips with Method Home

Decluttering and organizing the kitchen sink area and cabinets with copycatchic and @methodhome minimalist home luxe living for less

Decluttering and organizing the kitchen sink area and cabinets with copycatchic and @methodhome minimalist home luxe living for less

Even though I didn’t make any formal resolutions for the new year, I think my unofficial motto has been to “simplify”. That goes for my life AND home. It definitely goes along with my whole minimalist vibe. On that front, I’ve been on a huge declutter and organizing kick over here at the copycatchic household.

My first project for 2017? The kitchen sink area. No, it’s not glamorous, but under the sink was dark, cluttered and just a complete disaster. I collaborated with method to show you their newest spring limited edition collection and share my minimalist kitchen clean up tips. I thought it was the perfect partnership as their newest collection is based on simplicity, function, and minimalism. Right up my alley!

Floor Cleaning Made Easy

Reviewing the BobSweep bObi Classic Robotic Vacuum: It sweeps, vacuums, sterilizes, has a HEPA filter and MOPS all at the same time. @copycatchic cleaning

I’ve talked to you before about my cleaning routines whether it’s daily cleaning, how I clean “green“, how I cleaned after moving or even just cleaning up clutter. Today I wanted to talk to you about one of my daily cleaning secrets. In my clean slate post I mentioned doing a quick daily clean of the floor. Well, I totally understand how hard it is to carve out time in the day for the good stuff (like reading or exercising) let alone time to clean. So I’m going to let you in on my cleaning secret weapon: robots. Yep, that’s right. We use a robotic vacuum 😉 We’ve had one since we’ve moved and it’s a serious lifesaver. There’s nothing like a daily vacuum to keep the house looking tidy. It makes a HUGE difference. When BobSweep contacted me and offered to send me their bObi Classic Robotic Vacuum to review, I was excited to give it a try. I mean I’ve never had a robot that sweeps, vacuums, sterilizes, has a HEPA filter and MOPS all at the same time. Pretty freakin fabulous right?

The wet mop pad easily attaches to bObi Classic and wipes up those stickies in the kitchen and under the dining table.  And with young eaters in the house it’s definitely helping hand; bObi Classic sweeps and cleans the floor while we do the dishes.

The kids are also kind of obsessed with bObi…they want her on and running…constantly. Seriously, constantly. bObi is pretty good at following their snack crumb trails around the house, I must admit.

bObi is also very, very good at helping me with my shedding problem. I seriously drop hair like nobody’s business. I’ve always been this way…it’s amazing I have as much hair as I do with how much bObi Classic can find on the floor 😉

I love that bObi can sterilize with a UV light. Such a cool feature! We recently had a round of the sickies over here and it makes me feel better that those germs aren’t lying around waiting for guests.

Even if the rest of your house is a little bit of disaster, if the floor is clean and mopped, it makes a world of difference. Believe me, people always think my house is super clean because the floors are spotless.

And last, but not least…I adore how sleek and clean the bObi Classic looks. The streamlined glass top is so aesthetically pleasing, that I’m totally ok with having bObi Classic hanging out in my living room anytime.

Here’s a short little video of bObi Classic in action, starring Arden and Conrad.

You can find a bObsweep to fit pretty much any need right here. They have great customer service and ship nationwide. For tips on how to best utilize your bObsweep, you can follow them on Twitter @mybObsweep and Instagram @bObsweep. Or check out the hashtag #bobsweep for all sorts of entertainment 😉

Ranch House Redo | A Pantry Update

A little pantry update was long overdue in this house. The kitchen pantry was a mish-mash of mismatching shelving and no organization whatsoever. When we moved in I just shoved things into the pantry and never looked back. Not a good system for finding things that’s for sure.My Lowe’s Creative Ideas mission for November was to organize and update your kitchen or panty. I was happy to hop on the pantry bandwagon. Here is the pantry before in all of its awfulness….scary I know.

BEFORE

Now for some fun after pictures….

AFTER
I painted the whole pantry a fun shade of teal using some mis-tints from the paint at Lowe’s. I love buying mis-tints, I usually hit that area up first every time I visit Lowe’s. You never know what goodies you’ll find. And what’s great is the blue teal color tied into the blue mason jars I already had. I love when things fall into place like that!

I also lined the shelves with brand new bright white shelving liner to freshen it up a bit. I also did some reorganizing. I moved coffee and tea over to the top shelf. Before it was in a cabinet right above the oven and every time we used the oven everything above it would get baked. Now we just store mugs and travel mugs in that space, so no harm no foul.

I bought some great reusable jars and containers for our usual suspect pantry items like nuts, grains, rice, flour, sugar etc. I used black contact paper and cut out round circles to use as labels. I just label things with a white chalkboard pen. *Whoops, just realized that my cornflakes are labeled “Fruity O’s”! Ha! Oh well, not everything is fail-safe, huh? 😉

I also moved the “snack” shelf down to the 2nd to bottom shelf so that way Arden can access it whenever she wants to. I bought easy to open plastic containers for things like cookies, crackers, etc. She loves being able to open the cabinet by herself and see what food is available for her to munch on. And it makes Momma’s life a little easier too 😉

I bought a clipboard and painted it with chalkboard paint so I could keep track of what I bought at the grocery store for the week. It’s mounted to the inside of the pantry door. After we’ve eaten something I just do a quick swipe and erase that item. It helps the Mr know what’s available too, since I’m usually the one doing the grocery shopping. The clipboard part is great too, because I can use it to hold any coupons that I might want to use.

And there you go! My fun LCI project for November. It didn’t take a lot time to do and it was 100x worth the effort! The only thing I need now is a great basket for the bottom shelf to store my potatoes and squash and the like. Then the pantry will be 100% done. Yay 🙂
