I used this gorgeous inspiration pic and recreated the look. So instead of #FiveforFifty it’s actually seven items for $50 or less 😉 Enjoy!

The 4th of July is less than a month away and Americana goodies are in the stores to prove it 😉 I was at my favorite Target yesterday and I couldn’t resist all of the blue and star-themed party goods from the Peanuts gang. Most of the time 4th of July decor can be a little to busy for me. Plus I don’t like to use a lot of disposable party products. I like to buy things that will last more than one use and hopefully be repurposed somewhere else.
Target didn’t let me down! I thought it would be nice to simplify a lil’ bit and go with a blue and white color scheme. Since a lot of my outdoor decor is blue and white this theme will be right at home AND I’ll easily be able to tie it all in for future events. The galvanized metals adds some great texture as well. I’m also never one to turn away from star décor; aren’t those galvanized star candle holders super adorable?!
And what would the 4th of July be without s’mores? Target had fun star shaped marshmallows in pink, white and blue. I don’t see them on the website, but they’ll be in-store in the 4th of July party section along with the Snoopy Americana products.
paper star $5 | paper straws $3 | metal tray $15 | star lights $12
star beach towel $10 | small tray $10 | white tub $20 | DIP BOWL $4
star candle holder large $15 | star candle holder small $6
graham crackers | marshmallows | chocolate
Do you guys go all out for the 4th of July? How do you decorate? Do you buy new things every year or do you have the same items you like to use over and over?
Here are some items I spotted on my trip that would work with my theme!

What do you guys think? Will they love it? I think Arden and Conrad will be pretty happy 😉 And don’t worry we’re still doing an Easter egg hunt. Just instead of candy filled eggs, I’ll use hard-boiled eggs and plastic eggs filled with bunny tails.
I found this fun sweater for Conrad, isn’t the bunny just too cute? And the jeans and suspender set is from H&M, I couldn’t resist 🙂
Arden and I always love coming up with fun Valentine’s Day treats for friends and family (last year’s here and the year before). This year, we thought we’d make homemade cookies. Arden’s really into baking and cooking in the kitchen right now.
We made vegan shortbread cookies using coconut oil. We used this great recipe and the cookies were so tasty! Arden even did most of the work herself 🙂
Of course the taste test is the most important part of baking cookies, right? 😉
As for the actual Valentine’s Day cards, I saw these adorable Valentine’s Day Photo Cards from Pear Tree Greetings and I was sold. I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time keeping the names of Arden’s schoolmates straight. I’m sure some of the other parent’s do too. Photo picture cards are ingenious, don’t you think? I couldn’t resist this cute picture of Arden either. It was from our holiday photoshoot, but the red dress Arden was wearing was perfect for Valentine’s Day too!
Pear Tree Greetings has a great selection of the cutest cards you guys. And they’re so reasonably priced! We chose this picture card template and they were only $.59 each. That’s not much more than your average, generic V-Day cards you get from the store. These are so much cuter than Barbie or Transformers too, don’t you think? 😉
We had such a hard time deciding on which cards to choose. They have a bunch of different Valentine’s Day for Kids – tons of designs for both boys and girls. We loved these designs too!
Pear Tree Greetings is offering $25 worth of credit for one lucky reader. This contest will run until this Wednesday (to give the reader enough time to order before Valentine’s Day!). So pick your cards and be ready to order! Or if you don’t want to wait, they’re currently running a sale for 20% off with a $30 min. The code is FEB20 and it’s only valid for two days!
ONE $19 | TWO $28 | THREE $34 | FOUR $23 | FIVE $24

I hope you all were able to ring in the new year right. I spent the night baking and cooking for family coming over for the traditional black eyed peas and collard greens meal on New Years Day. Apple pie…check, black eyed peas loaded into the slow cooker…check, cornbread…check. Pretty exciting night I tell you. We could have gone out, but instead opted to stay in. Yep, we’re homebodies 😉
We did enjoy some nice bubbly though. Priorities right?
Thanks for all of your support and well wishes this year! I can’t wait to see what 2015 brings in!

I gave you all glimpse of our Christmas tree yesterday. I figured I’d show you the rest of our holiday decor in our family room and share some sources!
I already had most of the ornaments on our tree, but added a couple of fun, new additions. You’ll also notice our new faux fur tree skirt – sooo much better looking in person than on the website. These mixed metallics ornaments make a great base and I thought these gilded branch ornaments added great texture. Here’s a good close-up shot of the those as well as the gold, beaded garland I bought.
On the mantel we placed some magnolia garland (similar) and decided to buy these faux fur stockings to match our new tree skirt. And I had to buy these reindeer ornaments I featured in my last #FiveforFifty post. They blended right in with the tree because they’re both white, so I added them to the stockings instead for some added punch. Aren’t they adorable?
