Luxe Living for Less
What are you guys up to this weekend? I’ll be headed to the Alameda Antiques Fair, like I always do every 1st Sunday of the month. I’m so addicted to it, if I can’t go for some reason I go into withdrawal. Seriously. And I definitely have NO NEED whatsoever for anything else in ole’ homestead, but I’ll still be going.
Any one else going this Sunday? Email me. Let’s meet up!

I made mini pumpkin pie bites. They were sooo yummy!

The book is a super quick read and even though I’ve been blogging for almost five years now, I still found some good nuggets of info. So for all of you aspiring bloggers out there I’d definitely recommend it.
An adorable “desktop” made from paper by the talented Chloe, who also happened to help make this fun little Blog Inc video:
There was a little guest appearance from the pie truck in the video. Seriously. How. CUTE!
Here’s Bianca in the front row listening intently π
By the way, great book! I bought the Kindle version here for the ole’ iPad, so alas no actual book signing for me, but it was a pleasure meeting Joy. She was super adorable AND wearing the signature Ban.do pink pouf. I’d expect no less!
And of course the always required photobooth hamming…
Hope you can join the fun! Nathan has amazing style with a fabulous shop down in LA and some gorgeously designed spaces under his belt. I’ve posted a few of my faves below. Another thing I like about him? He’s a Bay Area native and incorporates just the right touch of equestrian into the spaces he designs. What’s not to like? π
So I have to begin by saying that the previous day’s sessions were pretty much a wash. I didn’t learn much and overall was kinda, sorta…bored. Not so on the second day, that’s for sure! My first session of the day was “Advanced SEO for Bloggers”. Wow, was this sesh a wealth of information. Some of it over my head, I admit, but overall lots of goodies for my brain. I had to sit on the floor in the corner, but let me tell ya, it was worth it!
Next up? “Avoid Analytics Overload: Google Analytics Tips”. Thankfully it was in the same room as the last one, so I was able to snag a front row seat with desk space AND ding, ding, ding, a power outlet! Struck gold I tell ya! Anyways, this was easily my favorite session of the whole conference. So much great information on navigating the abyss of stats that is Google Analytics. Here’s one of my favorite slides:
After the morning sessions it was time for lunch! I was dreading walking to the lunch area thinking it was going to be a repeat performance of the day before’s “Martha Madness”. But the Hilton staff seemed to have ironed out their kinks π and it was much, much more smooth this time. I even managed to get a front spot for the lunch keynote. Well, that was mostly due to Bianca, who wasn’t enjoying her 2nd session and ducked out early to save me and Tamara (Blitz and Glam) a prime spot for….wait for it…
LUNCH KEYNOTE | Katie Couric
Katie Couric came next. Boy, a bigger smile I-never-did see. She sure is a little sparkplug. She’s coming out with a new daytime talk show in Sept., called (fittingly) ‘Katie’. She’s planning on saving audience seats for bloggers for each show. Way to win me over Katie! Not only did she flex her guns for us, (intimidating btw!) but she even threw out advice for what to do with the “haters” out there: “block his ass!”. HA!
