1. Start working on the ole’ home front. I find the most awesome finds for my blog. All these great deals and I never take advantage of them myself. I vow this year to start focusing on my own space a little. I’m going to give myself a budget for each room in the house that needs work. And then create a mood board. Surprisingly I don’t do this enough for myself. π
2. Develop the blog. I realize that a lot of my readers come and visit to find out what the “deal-of-the-day” is and then tune out. I’d really like to develop more a voice for you guys. I tend to not delve into personal matters much on my blog, but I would like to let you all in on who I am every once and awhile. π I always like a blog better if I can get an idea of who it is writing it. Don’t you agree?
3. Grow, grow, grow. I want to grow as a person both in the personal arena and the professional arena. A lot of you probably don’t know much about my background, but I got laid off from my job in January this year and that’s when I was able to start blogging more often. This year has been a year of exploration and whimsy. In 2010, I’d really like to nail down a direction and start learning more and developing the skills needed. For those of you who know me personally, you know that I’m pretty creative & have many, many pots on the fire. I need to figure out which ones I’d like to keep and focus on them a lot more and stop spreading myself thin.
4. Expand the blog. As in add more features and diversify a bit. I hate being a one-trick-pony (see #3). I’ll need your help on this, stay tuned for polls, surveys & such! I also tend to do batches of posts ahead of time and depend on the auto-post function to get my posts out on time. I know this can result in sometimes coming off a little impersonal. And on that note, I’m going to try to be better at responding to your comments and emails. π
5. Stop being such an armchair designer and get my butt off the couch and treasure hunt. There are so many amazing deals to be had if only you are willing to just look for them. I learned that lesson while venturing out with Eddie & Jaithan to the Alameda Flea market earlier this month. I want to hit up all the great local consignment stores, craigslist ads, Goodwill Stores, Fleamarkets and garage sales. And it’s soo much fun too, I’ve really been missing out!
6. Network! I’d like to network more and develop my blogger contacts a bit more. I’ve met (online) so many great inspiring and helpful blogger friends and I’d love to get to know them better. People in the home design blog-o-sphere are amazingly talented yet down to earth as well. I’m so happy to be a part of it! And on that note, I’d love to meet some local Bay Area home design bloggers as well. I was at a little get together at the beginning of the month and I was throwing around the idea of starting the Home Designers East Bay Blogger Coalition. Now I’m wondering if there’s anything like that already out there? lol.
