You guys haven’t seen my master bedroom for awhile and it’s because not much has changed in here since we’ve moved in. It just hasn’t been much of a priority lately, but I felt like it really needed a little bit of love to freshen it up and make it less neglected looking.
It really doesn’t take much to update a bedroom on budget. You can either update the bedroom, paint the walls or add new accessories to make it feel like new. I decided to go with the latter, as I wanted something quick and easy with basically the same amount of effort it takes to make the bed. One of my favorite places to shop for reasonably-priced accessories is Walmart. The have an unbelievable amount of selection, especially with unique accessories and home decor. I’ve always found exactly what I needed when browsing the Walmart site, and mobile express returns (through their app) make it really easy to return items if they don’t quite work out. Love automated solutions that make my life easier!
The headboard was feeling pretty tired to me, I’m really kind of over the tufting, but instead of replacing it, I bought a new throw to drape over it and problem solved! Love the subtle strips on this one!
I also added a couple of new throw pillows – perfect way to incorporate trends or a new color BTW. This time around I decided to stick with the same color scheme (grays, creams and whites) and explore more with pattern and texture. The new pillows with their soft, nubby texture was perfect for transitioning to fall.
Lastly I decided I could live without a nightstand for no longer. Since our california-king bed is a pretty tight fit in here, I decided to make due without a nightstand. Not and ideal situation in the long run, really. I saw this rustic wall shelf and knew it would be the perfect solution.
Here are some more great picks from Walmart to get that great natural texture and neutral vibe in the bedroom!
