Baby Deux’s Baby Shower

We had a baby shower for Baby Deux (aka Baby Brother as Arden calls him) a few weeks ago. It was pretty casual, just a bunch of friends and family. I decided it would be fun to do a soup buffet.

We had four different kinds of soup. My Mom made Carrot Ginger Soup and her trademark turkey chili. I made this Cream of Mushroom Soup, which was so easy by the way! And my Grandma made her Chicken Jambalaya. We set up the main dining room table with crockpots, bread, soup mugs and spoons.

I didn’t get any good “in-progress” shots of the party (of course). But here’s a picture of the table halfway done setting up πŸ˜‰ ha.

We rented mugs and spoons and hired a Task Rabbit to help keep things warm and tidy.

We also had a hot chocolate bar with two different kinds of milk, regular and almond. Another picture about halfway done with setup.

We ended up moving the cupcakes down to the same table as the hot coco.

The mini-cupcakes were delish. We had Arden’s preschool teacher, who runs a cupcakery on the side, make them. She was awesome because all I had to do was tell her my favorite cupcake flavors and she made them. We had black bottom cupcakes, salted caramel cupcakes, and Guinness cupcakes with irish cream frosting. Yummy!

We didn’t play any games, but I did put together this guess-the-date chalkboard.

And speaking of chalkboards, I took a chalkboard letter class at my favorite local craft/maker store, The Makery, earlier that week. It inspired me to tackle our giant entryway chalkboard wall.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen a sneak peek of it.

Well here’s the finished wall in all of it’s glory!

Also on Instagram a little shot of the favors we handed out. The were dipped shortbread cookies from Big Island Candies. My absolute favorite cookies, ever.

You can probably get the idea, but the theme was black and white with a mix of chalkboard, buffalo check & gingham.

I did an online invite using Splash That. And I created this invite to use for the website.

Oh and for some after party antics, here’s a little montage of us *trying* to get some good family pics in. As you can see, not so successful πŸ˜‰

Thanks Tia! I'm glad you think so! I wish I had gotten more actual party pics and not just the set-up. Oh well, next time!
