Ever since our last trip to Mendocino, Ryan and I kept saying we should really come back without the kids. Traveling with kids is always fun, but sometimes it’s just so nice to sneak away and leave the kids behind, wouldn’t you agree?
Luckily Ryan and I had a chance to do just that this last weekend when the Brewery Gulch Inn offered to have us come stay at their gorgeous property. Ryan and I have been looking forward to our little road trip ALL. SUMMER. It was a little touch-and-go there on whether the kids were coming or not, but luckily the stars aligned and we got our little, adults-get-away after all.
Last weekend did not disappoint either. The weather was perfect. Ryan and I spent most of Saturday on the back deck of the inn having a picnic and reading a nice book. We watched all of the birds coming and going and the waves crashing. We had such a great time. You can see more of our shenanigans on my “Mendocino” Instagram stories highlight reel.
The Brewery Gulch Inn is so perfectly placed, overlooking the ocean with a spacious plot of land that seems to go on and on. There are several seating areas on the property and only 11 guest rooms so you can always find a spot to be on your own. Or you can gather in the lobby area to socialize with the other guests. My husband put it perfectly: It’s like a bed-and-breakfast without the awkwardness.
Speaking of breakfast the Inn boasts a generous made-to-order breakfast menu that was so delicious. We definitely looked forward to making our way down to the lobby gathering area for breakfast every morning, let me tell you! And not only do they serve breakfast, they also serve a “light dinner buffet” during happy hour as well!
This light dinner buffet was just as good as breakfast, with so much variety with around 5-6 dishes served ranging from chicken and mushroom alfredo to local fish served with fresh chimichurri sauce. They’re also very accommodating to guests with diet-restrictions.
We stayed in the Meadowview Suite which is the only room that can accommodate up to 4 people. And had the added bonus of a kitchenette. We had a great time lounging in the room and binge watching Stranger Things by the fire. Such a perfect weekend getaway!
