Remove textured stickers in bathtubRemove wallpaperPaint walls & vanityReplace light fixture with this oneReplace vanity hardware with something more sleekReplace mirror- Update medicine cabinet, I’m thinking chalkboard Next on the list! I bought chalkboard contact paper that I plan on putting on the cabinet. I figured paint might be too permanent π
- Replace bathroom hardware (
faucet, towel bars, hooks, switch plates, etc) I still need to update the switch plates but everything else is done! - Buy a new brighter filament bulb for the new sconce. The one that came with it was waaay too dim. Cool looking, but dim.
- Hang shower curtain Bought the shower curtain, but I actually don’t mind how the tile looks with the new color scheme. It’s been toned down so much that I don’t feel the need to hide it anymore!
- Find a small shelf for above the toilet. The Ikea shelves I originally planned on getting were too big.
- Hang up towel hooks.
- Paint cultured marble countertop using this method?
- Update bath to bath and shower combo
- Replace tile
- Replace flooring*
- Replace vanity*
* This will not be happening now, or anytime too soon. Basically part of my wish-list for the house π
Isn’t this black sconce from Lamps Plus just gorgeous? You can see the not-so-pretty lightbulb here. Working on it!
A little close-up of the counter. This is Arden’s space, so we have her brush readily available and the little basket on the left holds her hair clips and hair bands. And the fun little chalkboard jar holds cotton balls. I love the new towel ring too. It’s a great way to display fun hand towels.
Continuing with the theme that this is Arden’s bathroom…here’s her fun step stool that she LOVES. She can now climb up and turn on the faucet and wash her own hands. I also hung a cute little hand towel (gifted to me by Bryn!) from the drawer handle so she can reach it.
So overall I’d say this is pretty good progress! It’s my favorite room in the house right now (ironically). I think I’m going to slowly add more art to the walls and make it more of a gallery, which will add even more character. Can’t wait!

what color did you paint the vanity?! I'm currently obsessed with the idea of painting our master vanity a deep gray too. π
Reichel Broussard says
It's Benjamin Moore Whale Gray. Love it! http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/whalegray

Where's the step stool from?
annpala says
Ikea!

I love all of your bathroom updates, especially the painted vanity. I have the same Ikea step stool that my cats use to climb up into the bay window. What did you put on the legs of the stool to keep it from sliding? Also, one word of caution – be sure to vent the room adequately so the moisture does not ruin your wonderful artwork.

I just painted with with black gloss paint. Seems to do the job, it doesn't slip. Thanks for the tip!

LOVE this, looks absolutely fantastic!!!! I really enjoy seeing before and afters that didn't cost a lot…some of us don't have huge budgets to work with! ; )
Reichel Broussard says
THANKS Katie! π

I am currently looking for a faucet for our bathroom redo. This one is quite nice. Can you share which one it is or where it is from? Thank you. We are doing a black/grey/white color scheme as well. So modern, yet timeless.
Reichel Broussard says
I actually got it from Joss & Main, but it's a speakman. Hopefully that helps! It's a really nice quality faucet, we couldn't be happier.
Father Dowling says
Did you change the color of the bath tiles or do they just look different from all the changes? Great transformation!
Reichel Broussard says
That's the funny thing! We didn't, it's crazy how changing the colors in the room changed how they look? I actually really like the tile color and how it ties in now. Less pink and more of a neutral sandy color.
Father Dowling says
Totally. It looks like you retiled the tub! Amazing how a wall color, etc. can change things like that.
Kathysue says
Love love the transformation, now it has some special Reichel STYLE!! Great job and love the new sconce!!

Reichel Broussard says
Ha! Thanks Kathyue π It's definitely feeling much more like "me" now, that's for sure!

Loving this! You're inspiring me for our awful guest bath. What color did you paint the walls?
Reichel Broussard says
Benjamin Moore's Decorators White – my go to white π

Well look at you getting your Ranch home all gussied up!! I LOVE it!! It's so fun to see before and afters, and you have been busy! That barn light is just fab.
Reichel Broussard says
Thanks Chels! Love it when a room comes together like this one. After the pelican, everything just fell into place π If only the rest of the house was so easy….sigh.
Elisa of Fancy Free Me says
Looks so good! I love the mini BATH sign!!
Reichel Broussard says
Thanks Elisa – thought that was cute too, although I did think it was a little bigger. lmao.

love the pelican, and it ties in the tile color and the cabinets really well, which is a big accomplishment for a bird! we have an old 80's light fixture in ronin's bathroom with 3 lights, do you think the one light is enough for the whole bathroom? assuming you get a brighter filament…
Reichel Broussard says
This bathroom is actually super dark and the bulb we have in the sconce now is definitely bright enough. So I'd say go for it!
Ryan says
beautiful job! such an inspiration. I'll be moving soon, its nice to have inexpensive ways to spruce things up. I LOVE it!

I love this remodel so much! Especially exciting to see how much a modern faucet can update even a shell sink π Doing it this weekend-and the colors are perfect. Although I think mine may be a little too pink to pull this off.
Amy Martin says
Looks awesome! What color paint did you end up using? Your mood board showed gray, but just wondered about this white! π
