So, big news! We moved! We closed on a house a couple of months ago and we finally moved in. We’re still unpacking and trying to put things away, but we’re slowly getting there. I thought it would be a good idea to take it one room at a time until we’ve worked our way through the entire house. The living room is the first room you see upon entering, so I thought that would be the perfect place to start. Once everything has been stowed away, the fun part begins: time to decorate!

This black, white, and beige space by Alyssa Kapito had me smitten with its clean lines and neutral palette (psst…do not miss the rest of the house tour for more where that came from). I love how the clear coffee table and mirrored side table simply float in the space, while the generously sized natural fiber rug has great texture and makes the room look even grander. The abstract art and sleek lighting add a contemporary edge that contrasts nicely with the skirted sofa. Well done all around, Alyssa!

You all went wild for Sarah Sherman Samuel’s Palm Springs living room in our last vote (so much so that I wouldn’t be surprised if a Copy Cat Chic reader bought it—yes, it’s on the market)! For those of us that don’t have a gorgeous desert abode in the cards this year, this room redo can help bring the look home. Samuel has great taste in vintage and custom furnishings, but this living space can definitely be recreated with retail finds that won’t break the bank, like those super cool safari chairs and that amazingly affordable sofa. The white textured vase, tasseled throw, and modern garden stool mimic the stone walls and painted wood A-frame ceiling perfectly, and I love how she’s layered two similar off-set stripe rugs rather than using a large scale natural fiber rug to layer like you’d normally see.
