My Nursery

CCC Nursery | Bedding Update

I received the custom nursery bedding a couple of weeks ago and I’ve meaning to take pictures for you guys. I FINALLY got around to it. I absolutely love how it turned out! For those of you who are interested in your own custom sewn bedding, I used Etsy seller Noeske Notions. They did a fabulous job interpreting exactly what I wanted! The Vintage Plumes fabric is just gorgeous on the crib skirt, don’t you think? And for those of you familiar with Erika’s (Urban Grace) nursery for her little girl Sloan, you’ll definitely recognize the influence on the style of my crib bedding ๐Ÿ˜‰
Here’s a little teaser for you:
Here’s an overall crib shot with the new skirt and bumper, you can even see a peak of the flokati rug I ordered from Gilt.
A close-up of the bumper! The Sleep Sheep & Jelly Cat were presents from the baby shower! The crib sheet is just a plain white crib sheet, easy peasy.
Detailed shot of the bumper ties. And I had to show you the adorable Burberry dress I just had to have when I spotted it at the Nordstrom Rack this weekend! Isn’t it just ADORABLE?
And last but not least, the floor length crib skirt allows for plenty of storage underneath the crib.
I had originally planned to paint the crib a peacock teal color, but the Mr. and I have been waffling back and forth on that. The white doesn’t look bad at all and the Mr would love to not have to paint the thing ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m still debating though…I need your input. What do you guys think? Would it be too much teal if we painted the crib?

(For those of you interested in previous nursery posts you can visit the “Baby B” label on the right sidebar!)
***Crib & Bumper Pad Disclaimer***
Thanks in advance for all of your concern with Baby B’s safety! I just wanted to assure you that I’m aware of the dangers of using crib bumpers like this. I plan to replace them with breathables once it becomes an issue. As for the crib, yes, it’s a drop-sided crib and yes we do have the kit to fix it. We haven’t gotten around to putting it on yet, but we definitely will before Baby B starts using it!
Thanks again!

CCC Nursery | Gilty Purchases

I had to show you some of the things I’ve found for Baby B’s nursery on Gilt lately!
This morning I bought:
China Doll Grobag = $30
Isn’t this cute? It’s a mini-sleeping bag/sleeper for those chilly winter nights.
Groegg Digital Thermometer = $18
It changes colors depending on the temperature of the nursery!
And some other purchases I’ve made recently…
Organic Socks from Kee-Ka = $15
They were only $10 on Gilt.
And last but not least! Too add a bit of fun & whimsy to the nursery, not to mention a soft place to play…
Flokati Teal Shag Rug 3’x5′ = $94.99
This rug was only $75 on Gilt.
The custom crib bedding is finally all here! The Dwell fabrics look fabulous ๐Ÿ™‚ Can’t wait to you show you guys! Pics will be coming soon!

CCC Nursery | Update

I figured it was about time for a little nursery update! If you’ve missed previous post about the nursery click here to catch up! The Mr. & I did a lot of work and organizing over the holidays. We still have a ways to go, but it’s definitely looking more put together ๐Ÿ™‚ There are still some things on the shopping list (changing pad, crib mattress, floor lamp…to name a few). We also need to add some more playful touches so it looks less like an adult’s room and more like a baby’s room.
The chaise will be perfect for napping & sleeping during those late night feedings. The white peacock painting has found the perfect home in this corner (Thanks again Terri!!!)
After a couple of mishaps, we finally found the perfect dresser for the room. Thank you Craigslist! I absolutely adore it. The grain in the antique oak is just so gorgeous, they really don’t make ’em like they used too. And the wavy front adds just the right amount of “girlieness” ๐Ÿ™‚ It will double as a changing table once we get a changing pad for the top.
The unicorn poster was mine when I was a little girl. My Mom gave it to me for my 10th birthday and now our little girl gets to enjoy it too! It still needs to be hung…
Oh and how do you guys like the custom trophy cup? Most babies get a silver sippee cup or a spoon, mine gets a silver horse trophy cup ๐Ÿ˜‰
This side of the room has become a catch all for now ๐Ÿ˜‰ I finally decided on this shelf is from Target. I’m going to be lining the back panel with fabric, but haven’t decided which fabric to use yet…oh and I still want to get some storage bins or baskets for the bottom shelf. Don’t you just love the vintage wool coat? I found it at a vintage store for $19. It’s from the 50’s and in perfect condition. The collar and cuffs are suede! I LOVE it.
The crib makes a great storage area ๐Ÿ˜‰ Oh and the bedding should be coming in later this week, can’t wait! Of course we’re still needing the mattress, lol.
This faux bamboo end table was a steal for only $30 at a sample sale. It was halfway painted white when I bought it. The Mr. did a great job painting it a glossy black. Sooo much better.
A handy iPod dock for some soothing music for baby. And a cute peacock blue tealight holder also a gift from Terri @ La Dolfina!
I bought the chandelier from Pottery Barn Teen and it was exactly what I was searching for. It was a breeze to install and adds the perfect amount of sparkle to the room with out being too stuffy.
I couldn’t resist this little guy when I saw him on Gilt…He’s the perfect mini-version of Cristof! He has little wheels in his hooves and makes a cute (and surprisingly not annoying) neighing sound when you squeeze his ear.

Curtainworks Messina Opulent Velvet Lined Drapery

Hey folks! Here’s a product review as well as a mini nursery update!
Some of you might remember from this nursery post, that I was planning on buying Pottery Barn’s Velvet Drapes in Stone. Now, I’m a huge fan of Pottery Barn’s Velvet Drapes. I have them throughout the house, even the curtains that were previously in the room were PB’s Velvet Drapes, but as we all know, the price definitely adds up, especially when you’re on a tight nursery budget ๐Ÿ˜‰
But just recently I was contacted by the folks over at Curtainworks about their newest drapery collections. Lo and behold, after a bit of browsing their selection (which is plentiful btw!) I spotted the Messina Opulent Velvet Lined Drapes. Not only did they look gorgeous and exactly like the Pottery Barn drapes I love so much, BUT they had some great color selections! I fell in love with the Peacock colorway and I just knew it would look fabulous in the nursery!
Fast forward a couple of weeks…and thanks to the generosity of Curtainworks, guess what’s now hanging in the nursery? Yep, that’s right! Gorgeous Velvet Peacock drapes for Baby B’s peacock themed nursery. How perfect is that? ๐Ÿ˜‰
They look great don’t you think? I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on them already, ranging from the painter to a couple of friends that have stopped by. I would highly recommend them if you’re shopping around for curtains. Not only is the velvet soft and thick, but the drapes are fully lined as well!
And just to prove my point, I’m going to do one of my chic finds for you ๐Ÿ˜‰
Pottery Barn’s Velvet Drape 50″x 84″ (wheat) = $109
Curtainworks Messina Opulent Velvet Lined Drapery 52″ x 84″ (gold) = $49.99
Less than half the price of the Pottery Barn drapes and just as much drama! I’m sold ๐Ÿ˜‰

CCC Nursery | First Update

I hate to admit this, but right now, I’m typing this blog post and eating homemade whipped cream by the spoonful ๐Ÿ˜‰ Pretty prego-licious, I know! Anyways, here’s the latest nursery update for you BOTB folks out there ๐Ÿ™‚
The Mr and I took a little trip to our local thrift stores this weekend. And the Mr. spotted the PERFECT rocker. Okay, okay…it might not be the most spectacular looking thing ever…but it is sooo comfortable. It feels like it was made for me. After a bunch of you stressed that I needed to have a comfy rocker, I gave in. Especially when said rocker is only $25. Yes, you read correctly, only $25. Well I have to be honest with you though, the chair itself was only $25, but the professional steam cleaning cost $95! lol. Yes, this is absolutely necessary, I’m a little OCD when it comes to buying used upholstered furniture. I even made the Mr. carry the chair back outside to live after freaking out that it might have bedbugs. It stayed out there for two nights until the steam cleaner came and cleaned the H out of it. And guess what? No bed bugs ๐Ÿ˜‰ It’s now nice and clean for Baby B and me. Yeay!
This chair is so freakin’ comfy I might just have to get it reupholstered for the living room after it has finished its’ job in the nursery.
I also found these fun lacquered boxes for $5 at the Goodwill. They’ve found a home on my desk for now, but originally they’re meant for the nursery. Once I get the shelves bought & set-up they’ll relocate.
Another update! The fabric for the bumper just arrived ๐Ÿ™‚ I couldn’t be happier, it’s gorgeous!
I also splurged on this beauty on a little trip I made to Anthropologie today. It matches the rocker, perfectly ๐Ÿ˜‰ I had a discount card for 15% off as well as return that went towards it, so it didn’t seem like I was spending as much as I was ๐Ÿ˜‰
Anthropologie’s Plumage Shade = $108
Here’s a print that I usually put up around the house for Thanksgiving time…it might have to migrate to the nursery though. We’ll see, I don’t want to totally overdo it on the peacocks ๐Ÿ˜‰

CCC Nursery | Colors & Fabrics Galore

OK folks, as promised! Here’s my initial color and fabric choices for the little birdie’s nursery ๐Ÿ™‚
Here’s the breakdown clockwise from the top left:
Organic White Linen for the custom crib bedding
Pottery Barn Velvet Drapes in Stone
Dutch Boy Refresh Paint: Elegant White DW37 & Fountain Blue E7-1
Williams Sonoma Home Black & White Striped Rug (no longer available on their website)
Robert Allen Vintage Plumes Fabric in Jade also for the custom crib bedding
Dwell Studio New Gate Collection in Ash (also designed by Robert Allen!)
Working on getting the walls painted and the bedding ordered. Here’s what the room looks like right now…yikes. Do I have my work cut out for me or what? ๐Ÿ˜‰

At least most of the office furniture is now out of the room and in storage. As you can see it still has the old paint & drapes. By the way, anyone interested in buying some Pottery Barn Velvet Drapes in Wheat (50″x84″)? lol.
