Friendsgiving Favorites

After the first of October, I consider it prime holiday season. We are so used to stores displaying their holiday-wares earlier and earlier these days, but I try not to get *too* ahead of myself. It’s hard because Fall is my favorite season of all. So come that October 1st deadline, I am SO ready to go, what about you guys?

So after Halloween and before Thanksgiving, we have….Friendsgiving. We’ve been doing it for years now and it’s one of my favorite traditions. A time when you catch up with old friends, maybe invite some new ones and we all come together for good food and good company. Definitely a lot to be thankful for.

Now Thanksgiving decor definitely runs more traditional in my eyes, but with Friendsgiving? I like to go with decor that is a little more modern and fun, with a little fall flair of course. You can check out some of my previous Friendsgivings here.

Halloween Decor 2023

I love summer, but I must admit I love it when everyone starts transitioning to Halloween decor in July. I’m a fall baby and someone told me once that whatever season your birthday falls in, is usually your favorite. Is that true for everyone? (It is in my case!) Okay but honestly, even though I love seeing Halloween decor in July…I’m not one to decorate my house that early! Double standard? Ha, maybe.

Also, when it comes to seasonal decor, I follow the less-is-more philosophy. I don’t want to have to store a bunch of items that can only be used one season of the year. Also, I try to stay away from plastic and polyester items, all-natural is my preference whenever possible.

So on that note, here are some of the Halloween finds on my list this year.

  1. This wreath is made of dried fern roots, so cool! And it looks sturdy enough that you can reuse it year after year.
  2. These little ghosties are adorable and add a little whimsy wherever you put them: dining room, bathroom, mantle, etc.
  3. This pillow isn’t Halloween-themed, but the black color definitely lends itself well to the season AND you could use it in the winter as well.
  4. I posted on my socials a video of this Ouija doormat. It’s so fun.

  8. These little travel containers ($76 for 6) are magnetic so that they stick together. They have interchangeable magnetc labels too. My travel case is always a mess. These would definitely make things more So visually appealing and hopefully easier to access.
  9. My daughter had the child’s version of this brush and let me tell you, it was worth it. She has a super sensative scalp with fine hair and she hated having her hair brushed. This brush was the only one she liked. I’ve always had a secret wish to own the adult sized brush. Costco just started carrying them for an amazing price ($78+)!

Spring is here, although living in California these days feels like anything but spring! I am ready for the rain to stop and the sun to come out. Easter baskets are always fun to plan as they’re just small items that are fun and playful. And it’s time to explore items I think they’ll enjoy as opposed to the “wishlist only” giving of other holidays. Here are some items that will be in my kid’s baskets this year. Who’s gearing up for some winter travel? It’s that time of year 🙂 Visiting family and friends is definitely on the agenda. I feel like traveling over the holidays is a whole other beast, wouldn’t you agree? I think it’s nice to dress it up a bit for the holidays. Although comfort is definitely a priority (as well as affordablility ofc). Now that we are out of hibernation-mode and out-and-about more, it’s nice to dress it up a bit, don’t you think?

Of course, Walmart to the rescue. I’m really loving their Free Assembly line – it’s filled with quality wardrobe staples at reasonable prices. They make it easy to outfit yourself from head-to-toe at a great price. I’ve found pretty much all I need at Walmart this winter season. I love when they make it easy on us like that!

All of these pieces tend to stick with a classic more traditional vibe, as opposed to trendy. I like to think they’ll last more than one seasons at least 😉 Happy travels!
