The Shared Kids Room

Copy Cat Chic - Boy and Girl shared kid's bedroom using neutrals, whites and lots of texture as a base for color and kid's furniture & accessories from Wayfair

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you guys my inspiration and thought process behind the our kids’ room. We’ve had a few things we were able to accomplish since then! Painting? Check. Updated light fixture? Check. Hanging chair? Yasss. Bunk bed? Oh yeah. Want to see some in progress pics?

I was so excited to partner with Wayfair on this post because it meant I was able to get the bunk bed that I’ve been drooling over for years. The Wayfair Oeuf Perch Twin Bunk Bed has been on my wish list for awhile now because of Oeuf’s high quality design and small footprint. It’s surprisingly sturdy for how minimal the design is. And it’s flexible! You can separate the the top bunk and create a separate loft and twin bed. Such a great multi-use design. And really, you have to admit, it’s one of the best designed bunk beds around. So iconic. It’s not cheap, but it’s actually pretty reasonably priced if you research high-quality bunk beds. If you want something solid that will last awhile you’re going to need to pay more in this instance. This is one of those big ticket items where I’m a-ok with paying more, since it will be sticking around for awhile.

There’s still a few things we need to get done in here. Top priority now? Shades. This room is like an oven in the evenings. Man does it bake. We need some blackouts stat. Also on the to-do list? I need to whip the little desk nook into shape. I’m planning for it to be a little homework station for the kids later on. Maybe now? Just arts & crafts. And I think we need to add some more color. The room is pretty Arden-strong right now…she knows what she likes and sticks with it. Where as Conrad is still all over the place when it comes to what he likes. First it’s trains, then tractors, then dinosaurs…lol. I’d like to add more things that he loves into the room, but of course, that comes with time.

My number one goal for the room was to create the perfect backdrop for their personalities and I think we succeeded. Can’t wait to see the room develop!

    1. Hi Elizabeth! Sorry I didn’t see your comment until just now! The ones that got recalled are the ones with the stand alone bases, I think. We love ours and I sit in it with both kids to do storytime 🙂
