How to Deep Clean after Moving with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

How to deep clean your rental home after moving out with Copy Cat Chic and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Not only is it time for spring cleaning but we’ve also just moved. So in honor of that, I thought I’d post about how to deep clean after moving with one of my favorite cleaning secret weapons: the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Perfect timing to partner on a post together, right?! Oh and I got to have a little chat with one of my favorite bloggers and tv personalities, Jillian Harris as well, who is also a Magic Eraser lover. I’ve been of fan of hers ever since watcher her on the Bachelor! And now I love that I can catch her on my favorite tv channel, HGTV.

I’ve posted about some of my favorite cleaning tools before, but sometimes you just have to call in the big guns and that’s the Magic Eraser in my household 😉 It’s amazingly handy when it comes to doing a deep clean on a rental home after moving. So definitely keep a few in your arsenal aka cleaning kit. Also there was some hype a little while back about the Magic Erasers containing toxic chemicals. Which, by the way, is totally false. In fact Magic Erasers are way more safe than most harsh (and toxic) household cleaners. A safe way to clean off oven grease? Yes, please.

Here’s how we used the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser after moving out:

KITCHEN
  • Clean the inside of your oven. Gets rid of grease and grime on your oven grates and door.
  • Removes soap scum and lime deposits on your faucet and sink.
  • We had a glass stove-top. Most people use a razor to scrape burned gunk off, but the Magic Eraser is SO much easier.
  • Buffs out light scratches on wood countertops.
  • Cleans up splatters and stains in the microwave.
  • Removes cooked on stains in pots and pans.
  • Removes coffee and tea stains from mugs.
BATHROOM
  • Cleans white grout & caulking
  • Cleans mirrors  as well as keeps them from fogging!
  • Gets rid of soap scum and build up around drains in the shower, tub and sink.
OVERALL
  • Instead of paint touch-ups you can use the Magic Eraser to clean those walls
  • We had to use it to remove some artwork our kid’s created…on their bedroom wall :
  • Clean front door. We had a white door, it showed everything.
  • Removes scuffs from linoleum floors.
  • Removes sticker/tag residue.
  • Cleans light colored suede.
  • You can clean window screens without having to remove them!
  • Removes stains on leather seats, purses & chairs.

Here’s a fun video that Jillian made sharing her favorite tips and tricks using the Magic Eraser.
I quickly got to chat with her on a Google Hangout during her filming break and I asked her what her first priority is when cleaning for unexpected guests. Her answer? The kitchen. She also keeps a magic eraser in her kitchen junk drawer to quickly clean scuffs, nicks and spots on the counter tops, backsplash and walls. Her next step? She recommends grabbing some fresh flowers from the yard, lighting a candle or opening a window to let in a bit of fresh air. Oh and her last bit of advice? Bring out the wine! Then nobody will notice how messy your house is. HA! A girl after my own heart 😉How to deep clean your rental home after moving out with Copy Cat Chic, Jillian Harris and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

We currently rent an apartment and we will be moving next month so we will be sure to deep clean after everything is out so we can be sure to get our deposit back.

I do this all the time, even though I am not moving. It's something I have in mind, I am always cleaning as if I was going to sell my home!

I didn't know it could remove sticker residue. Now I know, and I have def. made a mental note of it.

Love these beauties. Quick question do you toss yours after using them once or let them dry and use them again?
