That’s right it’s time to start thinking about updating the kids room again. Conrad is 18 months now and no longer sleeping in the crib. He’s still sleeping on his crib mattress…on the floor. It’s definitely time to switch that kid over to a real bed. There’s room for a big boy bed for Conrad or maybe even a bunk bed (!), but for now they each have their own nightstand with space to keep their personal items.
We found this great side table (I think technically it’s an ottoman?) and it’s just the right height for Arden’s bed. I couldn’t find it online, but it’s the Room Essentials brand and the tag is just labeled “Ottoman”. The end table we had before was right next to the rocker and it was just way too tall for the bed.
Decorating with letters has been pretty hot for a while now. It seems like every kid’s room has at least their first initial if not their whole name. I just hadn’t really found decorative letters that I thought would work well in their room. I think one of the major reasons why is because I like accessories to be decorative AND serve a purpose if possible. Kids have enough stuff as it is without adding decorative accessories into the mix. So when I saw these light up marquee letters last time I was at Target, I knew I had finally found the right ones!
I heart them, so do the kids, so everyone’s happy. They’re battery powered (so no cord) AND the best part? They’re on a 3-hour timer! Hello perfect nightlight! Arden’s been wanting to sleep with a small light on lately, which means we always have to make sure we turn it off. The 3-hour shut-off works perfectly because there’s plenty of time for them to fall asleep before it turns off.
Everything’s pretty neutral in the space right now. The room has migrated to more of a play on pattern and texture as opposed to color. The toys and books bring in plenty of color though and the rest of the room is like a backdrop. It helps keep the busyness to a minimum. And now typography adds another layer of fun!
Here are some of my faves from my last visit to Target!

I love it! I have those same black and white x/t sheets (just the pillow cases) in our room. Kids rooms are so fun to do 🙂

Those sheets are the best, aren't they? I stocked up on them 😉

This is so adorable! I love the white and black theme! It is so clean! My son in 20 months and is still in a crib, but it won't be long at all until he climbs out. He is already trying!
Reichel Broussard says
Thanks Logan! 🙂 Yes! Sometimes I wish I could put him back in his crib, lol.

Oh my gosh I love those lights!!! I have a 19 month old and I can't imagine moving her to a toddler bed. Does he stay in it?
Reichel Broussard says
He tries to, but he moves so much during the night that he ends up falling out of it 😉 He really needs a bigger mattress!

LOVE these letters. Seriously, so much better than just plain ones. And I love that there are no cords to deal with.
