Mama Style | Nursing Style

It’s been a little while since I’ve done a Mama Style post and this one’s a doozy, so get your reading glasses on! The reason for the hiatus? I really kind of hate taking pictures of myself and I was hoping to get over that hurdle and model these shirts for you. It didn’t happen, sorry, BUT I still want to share with you an amazing resource for nursing wear: Boob Designs. The name is a little extreme, as is the logo, I know 😉 But they are experts at this nursing-wear business. I’ve mentioned them in the past (here and here), but I wanted to explain more about why I love them. And as an FYI I have to say that I was given a couple of Boob pieces a little while ago to review, but the rest I’ve acquired on my own, because I’m drinking the kool-aid. I wasn’t given any cash-money to write this post.

Now, let me preface this post and say these shirts aren’t cheap in any sense of the word, but the shirts I have from them are worth every penny. I know, I know…my Mama Style posts are supposed to be all about budget chic. Well, I believe in mixing high/low in my home and I think the same thing can be carried over to the wardrobe.

Most of my boob shirts are 100% free of any harmful chemicals (Oeko-Tex100 certified) and made in Europe with a focus on using the greenest materials available. The fabric is soft, comfy and forgiving, everything a gal could ask for. And they’re made to last, which is a good thing because I nursed Arden until she was two and I hope to do the same with Conrad. Which means I’ll be wearing these shirts on a regular basis for awhile. Here’s what’s in my rotation right now:

 one  |  TWO  | THREE  |  FOUR  |  FIVE  | sIx

Also of note, Boob shirts run long. The reason? You can use them as maternity shirts as well! I have a long torso so it’s so amazing have that extra bit of coverage. All of the shirt styles run pretty classic; No super trendy shenanigans going on here. Solids and stripes with basic silhouettes. And the shapes don’t change, so if you have one shirt in a size medium, you’ll know that you’ll always fit their size medium. Which makes online ordering (my fave!) a breeze.

Spoiler alert if you follow me on Instagram: I also own a couple of their nursing bras. I was hesitant about getting the bras at first because I have an arsenal of nursing bras already. Some from my first pregnancy and some from my second. I’ve tried the gamut. Seriously. Some I own or only for wearing to bed, because they’re not supportive enough to wear during the day. And the ones I like to wear during the day usually aren’t comfortable enough to wear to bed. The list goes on. Hence the mountain of nursing bras I now own because they have separate uses. Enter the Boob nursing bra. It was definitely an “Aha” moment. I’ve finally discovered the grail of nursing bras. These are so comfy and so supportive at the same time. The latch is easy to use with one hand and you know what else? They’re cute. Yea, you might even say sexy. Shocking in a nursing bra, right? Right? I was one happy mama the day I took a chance on these beauts. They really work for me.

ONE  |  TWO

I might have to try the matching underwear next…we’ll see.

Now for the breastfeeding part. All of the shirts have a flap that lifts up for easy access. This is great because you get to keep your tummy and your chest covered. I know, what a concept right? No muffin top hanging out and no bare chest exposed to the elements. Perfection. I really dislike how most nursing shirts have the cross front that dips low, so when your nursing you feel so exposed. Who wants to wear that during the winter? With the Boob, it’s so easy and private, that I sometimes forget my goods are out. That’s really true, btw, I have, it’s maybe a little bit dangerous.

I love the striped shirts because the stripes hide that flap pretty well. And the solid colors are great to layer with. Here’s a great example:
One $40 | two $79 | three $16 | four $50 | five $5.80

TOTAL
$190

I love this outfit because you get the comfy boyfriend jeans and quality nursing top. And then you’ve got a fun jacket and, of course, your statement shoes. BTW I’ll never understand why ladies would want to spend $900 on a pair of shoes that will be out of style in a season or two (although these Rockstuds have been around for 3 or 4, I know). I’d rather spend (a lot) less for a inspired/similar style and not feel bad when their time is over, but that’s just me. Of course if I had a G to drop on a pair shoes I might think differently 😉 Might as well throw this fashion find in:

VALENTINO ROCKSTUD BALLERINA FLATS
Hee Grand Women Lady Girl Fashion Rivet Cow Leather Flat Pointed Sandals Shoes

$895

Hee Grand Women Rivet Leather Flat Pointed Shoes
$16

Now, $16 is almost obscene it’s so low, so the jury’s out on this on folks, just keep that in mind! If you get them let us know how you like ’em! Moving on, here’s another super playful (albeit super-trendy) outfit that would be kind of fun to try.

ONE $75 | TWO $26 | THREE $12.69 | FOUR $5.65

TOTAL
$119

I own this skirt and like it! No shame in my game 😉

Little Hand Women’s 5 Layers Tutus Voile Puff Princess Skirt

And I don’t own these sunnies, so unfortunately I can’t vouch for them, but they look fun don’t they?

Anyways, back to the matter at hand. I hope some of you nursing Mama’s will give Boob a try, I don’t think you’ll regret it. I know I was converted after trying my first shirt. Come and let me know if you do!

Awesome – wanted to find a skirt like that so I could wear that to my 4 year old daughter's princess party. No reason why the queen shouldnt have fun, too.

This is a great post! I love Boob Design's nursing bras. I have three from their outlet and they have a sleeve that holds breast pads. Genius! I'm hoping to order the polka dot bra soon. Thanks for the information on their tops. I was wondering how nice they were too.
