The first store I’m going to cover in my Mama Style Mini Series is Kohl’s. Have you guys seen their selection lately? Lots of stylish options to choose from for such great prices. I especially love the LC Lauren Conrad collection. Lauren designs such adorable pieces with just the right amount of modest.

I wanted to start a new mini-series on the blog. Good news for all of you fashion-for-less fans out there. I’ll be posting it under the life category. So if you’d rather not receive it, you’ll have to make sure you’re subscribed to the “Home Only” feed and not the “Life Feed”. Check out this page for more info!
The new series is called Mama Style and it’s basically my attempt at motivating myself to not wear my pajamas all day. SO easy to do when you work from home, let me tell you. Not just the work-at-home part contributes to this though, being a new Mom does as well. It’s hard finding cute and comfortable clothes that work well for the post-pregnancy body. So I’m going to share what works best for me. Feel free to chime in with your own tips!
ONE
A cute dress and flats makes you look put-together and it’s super easy. A dress makes a great uniform, since it’s one piece of clothing. No need to pick out a top and bottom. All you need is one cute and comfy dress and layering on top of it. I love this black and white striped dress from Kohl’s because the black and white stripes create the perfect base and pretty much go with anything. The fabric has just the right amount of structure, so it keeps its shape, while also being stretchy. Bonus points for the pockets too! I paired it with bright pink flats and a matching necklace to add some fun. Oh and the gold belt is perfect for a little sparkle.
dress (c/o Kohl’s) $45 | flats $53.59 | necklace $8.90 | belt $9.36 | sunglasses $220 | tote c/o of PopSugar
TWO
Skinny jeans and flowy tops. Oh so required. Loose-fitting tops help hide the pregnancy pudding (as my old yoga instructor used to call it). And skinny jeans help keep that slimmer profile so you’re not walking around looking like a bag lady 😉 Sorry for the lame awkward face I’m doing here, not used to taking these outfit shots! Oh and give me a nice pair of flip flops any day and I’ll be a happy Mama.
THREE
Oh the joy of a comfortable maxi dress. I love the long, flowing, forgiving length of this dress. Also the different color top makes it look like a shirt and skirt combo, which is fun. I have my trusty diaper bag with me here and a wide brimmed sun hat which I can crumple up and stuff in my bag.

I'm glad you are adding these posts because I had a baby in November and am definitely rocking the yoga pants too much. Always looking for good options to hide that "pregnancy pudding", but what I find most difficult is something flattering and stylish that also has boob access….nursing really puts a cramp in the style and dresses usually don't work for the year.

I'll be doing some more breastfeeding friendly outfits soon! 😀

I like this feature. Hope you keep it up. I love all three outfits, especially the maxi. One question: the first sunglasses are listed as $220. Was that at typo? The other two are so much cheaper it just seems silly to have a $200 pair of sunglasses in an article about "cheaper" clothes.

If you click on the word sunglasses it takes you to their sale website. $220 indeed, Gucci.
Reichel Broussard says
Yep, they're $220. I just happened to be wearing those that day. I used to have a weakness for expensive sunnies. They're actually almost 7 years old!

I loved this post! I'm not even a new mom and a lot of these pieces are great staples. I just bought the black & white dress!

My favorite! Love that dress 🙂

Ugh I am at the awkward postpartum stage, nursing access etc… I currently hate everything I own. Great idea for a series!!
Reichel Broussard says
Seriously. I'm the same way 🙂 Thanks Laurel!
