Not only is my nesting instinct kicking into high gear, but now I’m stressing about being able to take good pictures of the new baby. Ugh. So with that in mind, I figured it was about time that I finally learned to use my DLSR correctly. I shoot in manual mode with my camera (a Canon Rebel T3i), but I really only knew one setting to change, the shutter speed. And the only reason I knew how to adjust the shutter speed was by accident. Seriously.
So I decided to sign up for Nicole Gerulat’s Photo 101 class. I follow Nicole on Instagram and her feed is gorgeous. I figured if she could get photos like that from her iPhone then she must be pretty bad ass with an actual camera π Sign me up! I know I needed to start with the basics and learn how to use my camera correctly.
Photo 101 was the perfect class for me. Nicole has it nailed. I learned so many things, most importantly? Aperture and white balance are your friends, get to know them. I’d highly recommend this class to anyone trying to step up their photo-game. Or to the clueless mamas, like me, out there that rushed out and bought a DLSR when they had their first baby and never learned how to use the damn thing.
Here’s a couple of examples of my “homework assignments” from Photo 101.
The class lasted a month and I feel like a new woman π Photography is addicting. I’m jonesing for Photo 102 right now and lighting! Oh the excitement!

Great giveaway! It's probably time I learn how to use my DSLR with a baby on the way too. I could definitely use some schooling in the Photography 101 class!

I'm exactly in your shoes! Down to the same camera! Baby #2 is coming quick and now that Baby #1 is a fast as lightning toddler I can't keep up with Manual mode since she moves too quickly to change my settings (since when she was laying down for weekly shots I could fiddle with my M settings). Would love to win this!

I could really use this! I would love to get back into photography and need a refresher! Taking baby pics is hard, but taking teen, tween and K boys pics is just as hard!
