This is the room before we moved in. Yikes, right? Awful, awful colors. Look at little Arden crawling around π She wasn’t walking yet…so cute.
We also switched out her crib to a toddler bed that Grandma gave us (a local garage sale find). Free is always nice π
We hung up the same black, velvet drapes that we used in the master bedroom. They’re such a good deal and they help keep the room warm by insulating the drafty windows. We made it a little more fun by using this this cute bird window hardware. Arden loves it, every time she looks at one of the birds she crows. Adorable.
Her night stand, lamp and birdie friend are still here from her original nursery. The nightstand is the perfect place to store her “nighttime” books.
I love the original crystal door knobs, gorgeous aren’t they?

Cute! I really love that rug – where did you find it?
Reichel Broussard says
It's an old Williams Sonoma Home rug π
Jamie says
I love this room and that you accomplished such a fresh and happy look with this color palette! Awesome
Reichel Broussard says
Thanks Jamie! It's hard to make black & white not look too sterile π
Jessica C. says
beautiful! so well-designed.
Reichel Broussard says
Thanks Jessica π I tried to make it so it's almost a blank slate, for Arden to add her own touches, without having it be too boring! hahaha
Moira says
It's beautiful! I love that it's whimsical and sophisticated at the same time. Girly, but not screaming GIRL! So cute!
Reichel Broussard says
EXACTLY what I was going for! π Thanks Moira!!!
Emily says
Love the room, also… totally interested in how you potty trained your 18 month old. My daughter is 17 months and would love to get started on the potty training.
Reichel Broussard says
Thanks Emily π As for potty training, Arden started being very aware of when she would "go" in her diaper. She would say "doodoo" or "peeper", so we figured she might be ready. We followed the 3 day potty training method described here:
http://www.babycenter.com/0_potty-training-in-three-days-or-less_10310078.bc
After the 3 days she was pretty much potty trained! It works great!
Kelly says
Love Arden's room and also wondered about the potty training! Will have to try it out. My daughter is 21 months and is also pretty aware of when she goes.

It's absolutely adorable!! So many things to comment about. First- her dresser. Gah! That is amazing. Love the dots around the bed, what a great idea! Love the poster. And wha?? She's already potty trained?! Holy smokes, that's awesome!
Reichel Broussard says
Thanks Chels π It's pretty basic right now, but I'm sure Arden will be adding her own "special" touch soon! hahaha

Love the room and your decorating ideas. My daughter has the exact same dresser that we painted for her to use as a changing table for our granddaughter. The veneer was pretty bad in places so we had to do a little repair on it too. The drawers offer a lot of storage room and it is a perfect size for the changing mat and accessories on the side.
Becky says
Love this room and that you are nursing until two π Go mama go!
Christine says
It's gorgeous! Where did you get those stickers? I've been thinking of doing something similar, but am scared to put stickers on the newly painted wall.
Reichel Broussard says
Here's the link: http://goo.gl/BxHeL π BTW – They easily peeled off my newly painted wall, so hopefully you shouldn't have a problem with them!
Jaimee says
where did you get the rug and how do you keep it clean? great space!
