One thing that can really ruin the ambiance is the cold glare of an LED bulb. We’ve made the transition over here to all LED bulbs because they’re long lasting and energy efficient. BUT the light they give off is such a turn off. I miss the nice warm-glow of an incandescent sometimes 😉
Recently I was contacted by Philips Lighting about their latest line of Philips LEDs with a dimmable warm glow effect. What sets them apart? Their new bulbs have an incandescent-like glow. In fact, not only do they come in soft white, but the bulbs change to an even warmer color as you dim them. It produces a  sitting-by-the-fireplace kind of light. I’m a huge fan!
My favorite room in the house is the living room because of the big windows and natural light that comes in all day. I hang out there all day and work on my laptop. We spend most of our evenings there too, whether it’s watching a movie with the kids or hanging out with friends or family. Or even just watching our favorite shows after the kids are in bed. It’s basically our go-to room. So naturally, it’s important to get the lighting right.

We didn’t have a dimmer before so it was always a combination of turning this lamp on, turning that light off or making sure this one is off because of the tv glare, etc. But now, with the dimmer switch and our new Philips LEDs with a dimmable warm glow effects, all you need is a quick slide of the switch and you’ve got the exact light you need. So freaking easy. Oh and in case you were wondering? They cost around the same price as your average LED bulb. What’s not to love?

So do you have to have install a dimmer switch on your wall that is connected to the lamp with the new bulb?

Yes, I installed a dimmer switch, but it connects to an electrical outlet in the room. Then I plugged my lamps into that outlet and they're controlled by the dimmer switch 🙂

Brilliant idea, thank you for bringing it to our attention. I'm always curious about homes with living rooms in which there are no reading lamps! Good task lighting is so important and this new bulb solves the problem of harsh glare.

Great tips and I will have to check out those lights! Also – your gallery wall is fabulous. Would you mind sharing where you got that "squared" black and white abstract print?
