Copy Cat Chic Room Redo | Chilled Out Living Room

Friday, August 1, 2014

Much like Hansel, hairpin legs are so hot right now. And as if a DIY console wasn't already on my to-do list, this super chill living room just had to rub it in a little bit more that I'm putting off building (nay--assembling) something that requires less effort than repainting my guest room (for the second time...which I definitely did this weekend). To be honest, this does not need a tutorial: get an appropriately-sized wood slab, attach legs, turn upright. Simples. However, there are some different leg sources and finishing options so here are some links to get you inspired (1, 23). And obviously you can make a desk, a console, a coffee table, and who knows what else. The challenge will be not making all three because you're so intoxicated by your DIY successes. And while we're on it, another quick DIY for those cheerful green lamps will save you a ton of money and time spent looking for green lamps. All you'll need to do is remove the shade and tape off the cord, harp and other electrical bits before painting.

  1. Didn't see a green lamp on Target's website. Did they paint them?

  2. Great room! I didn't see the source for the original photo - do you know where it's from? The rug, per your source, starts at $424 but that's for a 2ft. wide runner. As shown would have to be an 8'x10' at $1,680. Add the hairpin legs at $100 per your source and the room cost is more like $3,761.

    1. The 5 by 7 rug is $743, but with the sale on the site, 70% off comes to $222.

  3. yes, see last sentence of post. The Target lamps are petite - only 20" high vs. the approx. 30" high ones in the After photo above
