Copy Cat Chic Room Redo | Lavender Girl's Bedroom

Friday, April 4, 2014
One of my goals this spring is to bring our readers a greater variety of rooms for our weekly redos, so today we are featuring a super fun young girl's bedroom that I found in the Houzz Kids iPad app. I think we can all agree that designing spaces for kids can be really fun but poses a unique set of challenges, so it's always so great to see bedrooms for kids that are interesting and fun without being garish or (ahem) childish.

When I saw this room, I immediately thought of my niece, Autumn. She loves her dolls and whatever can possibly be made pink, but I don't think I'd call her "girly", exactly. She loves pretending she's a frog or a doctor or a cat named Sprinkles (really) more than she cares about being a princess, and this laid back, cool-without-trying room is just as self-assured as she is. And my favorite part about this room is that the furniture looks grown up (the Bertoia chairs!) but it's all sized for kids, and we all know that everything is better when it's fun-sized.

  1. Thank you so much for posting a girl's bedroom. I have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. My boys share a room with a bunk bed (ages 15 &10) and my girls share a room with a queen size bed (ages 12 &6). We are getting ready to move my 15 year into his own room and redo the girl's room with either a bunkbed or separate twin bed. I would love to see some shared bedroom ideas or a fun teenage boy room if you ever come across it.

Thanks a ton! Love it and keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks I'll definitely keep that in mind and see what I can do ;) I've mentioned this before but I'm a huge fan of the Houzz iPad app, and just recently discovered they have a completely separate version full of kids rooms. The kids version is definitely way less awesome than the original (not to mention it has a fraction of the original's photos) but there are still some good examples in there of ways to organize kids' rooms and some cool ideas for rooms with more than one kid in them. Hope that helps!
