My Thanksgiving Table

>> Monday, November 21, 2011

Happy Monday to a short week! On Saturday we hosted our annual Pre-Thanksgiving party with friends. It's always a big hit, everyone brings their favorite dish, the wine flows and we play fun games all night.

I wanted to set up a fun tablescape this year and being a member of Lowe's Creative Ideas Creators & Influencers team, I wanted to DIY most of it. I used spray paint, dropclothes, a glue gun and fake "lit" pillar candles to create the look. I love decorating for the holidays and I always like to create a new look every year. It's hard sometimes to get inspiration. Lowe's Creative Ideas website has a bunch of ideas and was so helpful when trying to figure out what I wanted my table to look like.

I used a glue gun to glue pinecones to ribbons and tied them to the backs of chairs.

I used striped ribbon and fabric (from Ikea) I already owned to add a modern touch to my traditional dishware.

Tying the striped ribbons onto the silverware was a fun touch.

I bought a bag of typical holiday potpourri (with pinecones, artichokes and pears) and spray-painted them bronze.

The dark wooden bowls, candlesticks & cake stand were all left over from my wedding.

Hydrangeas are the perfect flower all year round.

The tablecloth was just painter's dropcloth from Lowe's!

More bronzed pinecones and striped ribbon adorn the buffet.

I loved these fake pillar candles from Lowe's, they had flicker to them, just like a real flame...but a safer alternative with curious lil' ones at home ;)

Love the stripes, perfect for giving the traditional look of the transferware a little edge! Your table looks fab, sounds like a fun night!

Just saw your post! I LOVE the black and white paired with the autumn elements. Your area rug is great too! If you wish to share where you found it, I would love to check it out.

All the best!
