I've always admired the sleek modern lines of the LEM Piston bar stool. It's on sale now at DWR (Design Within Reach) for $680-$865. Ouch.

Leave it to Overstock to find a cheaper version...or two...or three. This one is my particular favorite as it's the closest to the original. AND it's only $169.99. Gotta love the Hollywood Wenge Barstool from Overstock.com.

Much, much closer to the original

Let's be frank though. These are all cheap chinese knockoffs. There's a world of difference in quality between these and what comes out of La Palma Italy.

lol...I think that's definitely the truth, the question is whether or not you are willing to sacrifice quality for price. In this case? At over $680 a stool? I might!

Actually the dark walnut ones I think are less than $550 shipped.

So anyway, here's my 2c - at one time or another just about everything I owned was from Ikea, or maybe other places. Stylish/cheap/knock-off'ish stuff.

I used to move from apartment to apartment every couple years. Finally bought a loft in downtown San Diego a few years ago. Slowly over that time I've been updating all of my furniture. Now I'm at decision time for the barstools. Currently I have some super cheap ($60 each) Bombo knock-offs that have served well as 'place-holders'. $600 seems like alot of money for barstools... but I've been a fan of this design for years.

I've always wanted them, just couldn't rationalize the purchase. I consider the knock-offs, but it take a look at my current sad-ass excuse for stools and hestitate. Finally I thought about this guitar I have had for 8 years now... a great Huss and Dalton acoustic. Bought it used for just under $3k. It's gorgeous, I love it just as much now as I did then. But paying for it made me wince, or at least I think so... dunno, hard to remember ;)

Guess what? Costco has a version for $329. Might be your happy medium. At least you can buy them, try them out and return them easily if you don't like them!

Good luck!
