No, the older Eames shell chairs were made of fiberglass. The new (licensed) versions sold by DWR, Modernica, etc. are made out of plastic, just like the knock-offs. If you want a fiberglass shell chair, you have to get a vintage one.

Modernica versions are made in fibreglass and the Herman Miller / Vitra versions are made in polypropylene.
